In this text, three papers examine
the distinction between education and schooling as it impacts multicultural
education in democratic societies; describe and give examples of
teaching that is responsive to children of diverse needs and cultures;
and profile the successes of and challenges faced by a project in
the Ruhr Valley of Germany that provides services to Turkish preschool
children and their mothers.
